Join Us in Making a Difference — Volunteer with Bucky Cares!
Hello! My name is Tricia, and in 2017 I began organizing small donation drives to support children in need—starting with just five kids. Over the years, the need grew, and so did the impact. In 2025, I officially founded Bucky Cares as a nonprofit organization, and since then, our mission has only expanded.
Why “Bucky Cares”?
The name is deeply personal. My father, Sherman Patrick Summerson—lovingly known as Buck—was a Korean War veteran and a devoted father. During the holidays, he transformed into “Mr. Jingles,” an elf who hand-delivered food and gifts to children in need. My husband, Brad McVicker—also affectionately called “Buck” by his nieces—is an Army veteran who shares the same heart for giving.
Our mission is also inspired by the amazing friends and family in my life who live with different abilities, including Autism, Down syndrome, microcephaly, and more. Their strength and spirit fuel the work we do every day.
Our Mission
At Bucky Cares, we’re committed to bringing joy and relief to children, families, and veterans through community events, donations, and seasonal drives. Whether it’s providing essentials, gifts, or just a reason to smile, we believe every act of kindness matters.
How We Do It
To fund our efforts, we host bake sales, raffles, chili cook-offs, curate Amazon wish lists and recently launched an apparel line. Every purchase and donation goes directly toward helping those we serve.
We Need You
This mission is not something I can do alone. Volunteers are the heart of Bucky Cares. Whether you can help organize events, spread the word, or lend a hand at a fundraiser—we welcome you with open arms. Your time and energy can make a life-changing difference.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our journey. We hope you’ll join us in carrying on the legacy of love, service, and community.
